Not just any ladder, my laws of attraction ladder!

I’ve said it time and time again, “I do not mind the occasional street find.” As long as that street find can be useful as a DIY project or to help demonstrate ways on styling interiors. Months later if I decide that I don’t like my freebie, no problem and no money lost. I just set those things right back on the street side for the next person to love.

For months I’ve been telling myself that I’d like a new ladder. You know, sending my verbal wishes in thoughtful motion and applying the ‘Laws of attraction’ theory. Well it happened. Last week while walking home from an errand, I decided  to cut through the apartment complex across from us and as I exited their gates a ladder lay on its side and  tucked between some particle boards against a tree.  Ahhhh! Insert heaven chimes; my new ladder! Laws of attraction does work! (I’ve been really lucky my whole life thanks to my belief.)

I don’t consider myself a rustic kind-a-gal but I am someone who is very eclectic with my styling choices. I feel ladders are a fun and unique way for decorating your space! We have a black one along our corridor for jackets and bags and a white one in the bathroom for our towels. This one is much taller and sturdier than our bamboo counterparts. Frankly I’m loving its appearance as-is and have decided to let it alone. Paint spots, nude varnish, wood chips and all. It’s so strong and sturdy; would also be perfect for someone with a mezzanine or library! This ones a keeper although if I ever become tired of it, I’ll be sure to pass it along to someone who can really use it.

I’ve shared some examples on how you can style a ladder. There’ll be more examples on my instagram in future posts.

I’m curious, how do you feel about ladders?

Groom with Comptoir des Dogs

Last week we received a couple of new products from the lovely Laure behind her new line, LILA LOVES IT at Comptoir Des Dogs. Laure’s grooming products are made from both natural oils and plant-based herbs.

We were the lucky recipients of both the Shampoo Sensitive and the Paw Care.

Both formulas are neutral in colour, mild in scent and come in easy to use containers with classic monochromatic label and natural packaging. I particularly like the paw care! It wasn’t until I began using it that I noticed the positive changes to Laffy’s paws. With ingredients such as apricot kernel and coconut oils, its obvious how those essential oils help balm and coat his pads. The waxy form softens easily on the fingertips and even helped coat my hands!

I’ve always selected a non-fragrant shampoo or natural solutions containing soothing oatmeal for sensitive skin. I was a bit apprehensive trying a new Shampoo without smelling it beforehand but this one passed the ‘non-parfume’ rule! It has a very mild scent and smells more natural than perfumery. Definately a plus for pups with a quirk for rubbing themselves over everything and everywhere just to remove the scent off from thier coat and skin. With ingredients such as avocado oil, chamomile and yarrow extract,  a lot goes a long way and I would recommend a tablespoon /if that/ for a french bulldog.

Cotton Mouth?

Today I tried going back to my usual Florist in search of 4 cotton branches to help decorate our home for Fall. While headed that way I was thinking about all the things I could do with the buds and most especially how I would string a few along a thread of natural twine. Finally reaching my flora destination and grazing past the black plastic buckets, I didn’t see any. Well aware of how the shop displays their stock and not willing to wait in que to ask if they expected more any time soon, both my impatience and Laffy’s yanking tow, it was best we started out on a cotton branch hunt. Thirty minutes later and after walking by 6 other floral shops in our neighborhood, I had finally given up and decided that I’d happily live with the 2 that I already had. I made good use of these lovely branches, even snipped off a few buds so that I can share with you, some simply ways on how to style these fluffy white buds for your dining table. I’ll unravel the other styled images through out the home on my Instagram account at parisandpups.
